U10 Boys 3rd in County
Boys Come Agonisingly Close To Qualifying For Regional Round
On Sunday, the U10 Boys finally managed to play their county tournament which had been postponed from earlier in the year due to the cold weather.
On a glorious sunny day the, despite not having been able to train for a month, the side got off to a flying start. They played some fine, flowing, team hockey in beating Milton Keynes 5-0, with goals two goals apiece from Frank Bursell
and Zeb Hodgson and one from Harrison Cairns
. Next they beat Amersham and Chalfont B 3-0 with goals from Frank Bursell
, Daniel Carter
and Trystan Jones and followed this up with another impressive 3-0 win over Marlow B. This time the goals coming from Bursell, Cairns and Hodgson. With the defensive line of Quinlan Graham
, Freddie Tuthill
and Daniel Little
, and Oliver Dowson
in goal continuing to deny the opposition, the side earned a hard fought 2-0 win over Wycombe to put them in a good position going into their last two games, against what they knew would be their toughest opposition. In a very evenly contested game, Marlow A proved just that bit stronger as they ran out 2-0 winners. Buckingham went into the final game knowing that they needed a win to progress but after a long morning the side looked a little tired and weren't quite at their best, with Amersham eventually scoring two late goals to seal second place in the tournament.
Although the boys were understandably disappointed at not qualifying for the next round, they had worked incredibly hard and shown fantastic team spirit throughout and had played some very good hockey too. They were evenly matched with the two best sides there and should be very pleased and proud of their efforts.
