Pirates and Buccaneers Get 2019 Off To A Good Start

With the club looking to start a men’s section for the 2019/20 season, there was more positive news for the club as the boys U12 sides were in action on Sunday. Having been promoted to Division one at Christmas, the Pirates travelled to Amersham and Chalfont Hockey Club for their first round of matches in the higher division. Despite some nerves, the boys produced a superb performance against Thame to run out 3-0 winners. Trystan Jones scoring a hattrick. In their next game they produced another fine display to beat Tring by the same scorline. This time the goals came from Daniel Carter, Freddie Tuthill and Harrison Cairns. In their final match, they took on the hosts and despite another very good performance, they were narrowly beaten 2-1 in an incredibly tight game. Freddie Walker scoring the Pirates goal. With numbers increasing, the club were delighted to be able to field a second U12 boys team for the first time this season. Despite narrowly losing all three games, the Buccaneers showed fantastic spirit and determination and played some good hockey, which was even more impressive given that for a number of the side it was their first taste of competitive hockey.
