The squad travelled to Lichfield to take on their hosts, Stourport and Saffron Walden. Up against Lichfield first, Buckingham found themselves a goal down but Thalia Fenton’s strike earned her side a draw after producing a dominant second half performance.
Buckingham’s second match against Saffron Walden was the standout game of the day with Emily Protheroe bagging a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory. Jess Lee and Kirsty Freshwater scored a goal apiece.
Ella Cusack then gave Buckingham a slender 1-0 win over Stourport, meaning a two-goal win over Saffron would see Lichfield through to the finals and knock the local side out but, to Buckingham’s joy, they were beaten 1-0 which secured Buckingham’s place in the National Finals, where they will face Beeston, Wakefield, Bowden, Southgate, Surbiton, Reading and Wycombe.
The finals take place in Wakefield on March 29th and 30th.
