On Sunday Buckingham travelled two hours in the opposite direction to take on East Conference high fliers Sevenoaks in the second round of the cup. Buckingham started really well and nearly scored in the opening minute. However, this seemed to spark the home side into life and it was they that dominated the next ten minutes. In this period Sevenoaks took the lead when an unfortunate deflection from one of only two two penalty corners resulted in the ball finding its way into the net. Despite this setback Buckingham gradually grew into the game and began to have the better of both territory and possession. Despite a number of good chances and four penalty corner Buckingham could not get back on level terms and were grateful to Player Of The Match Frankie Scott for ensuring it remained only 1-0 when she cleared the ball off the line following a fast counter attack.
The second half started well with Buckingham immediately in the ascendency and it was not long before they were on level terms. Alex Naughalty flicking the ball high into the net from Buckinghams sixth penalty corner. However, a cheap turnover not long afterwards and some very soft defending allowed the home side to take the lead once more. Buckingham dominated the remainder of the game and created a number of chances and another six penalty corners but despite all the pressure, chances and the fact that Sevenoaks were reduced to ten and then nine players in the final few minutes, Buckingham could not find a way back on level terms.
