Buckingham went into Saturday's match knowing that victory would guarantee them a top 4 finish but fully aware of the fact they were taking on a Beeston side who had inflicted a 2-1 defat on Buckingham earlier in the season and one fighting for their very Premier League survival.
The home side started brightly, earning a penalty corner as early as the third minute but Abbie Brant was just a few millimeters away from turning the ball into the visitors net from the well worked routine. Buckingham continued to have slightly the better of the first quarter but with both sides defences standing firm, quarter time arrived with no score.
Once again Buckingham started well with another penalty corner in the opening minute but once again, the home side were just centimeters away from opening the scoring. However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the twenty-sixth minute when they crashed the ball into the D and a fortunate deflection fell kindly for them to score from close range. Buckingham responded with renewed effort and came close to equalizing through Tash James on a couple of occasions but were just unable to convert.
Buckingham began the second half in the ascendency, creating another chance in the opening minute but the visitors goalkeeper was in inspired form to deny the home side once again, whilst at the other end Ella Jackson needed to make a sharp save to deny the visitors. Tash James was denied by the width of the post as Buckingham continued to create chances but despite dominating the majority of the play, the visitors always remained a threat on the counter, Jackson needing to be alert on on a couple of occasions. However, neither side were able to find that elusive next goal.
The final quarter followed much the same pattern as the third with Buckingham earning another penalty corner in the opening minute and on the front foot once more, but there was to be no way through visitors goalkeeper. Despite having the lions share of possession and territory, Buckingham just could not find a way through a Beeston's well marshalled and highly motivated defence as the game ended in a frustrating 1-0 loss.
