Buckingham fell to a narrow loss at Stowe against second placed Hampstead and Westminster on Saturday. The home side went behind after eight minutes of the first quarter. Kitty Higgins made the initial a goal line save at a penalty corner, but a reflex volley finish on the rebound from Olympic gold medallist and Great Britain player Lily Owsley was enough to give the visitors all three points.
The game remained tight throughout with Buckingham defending several further penalty corners to deny the visitors any further score. Late in the game Tash James was close to connecting with a deflection at the back post from a cross from Rebecca van Arrowsmith but was just unable to connect to score. Whilst disappointed to lose the game, Buckingham are still in pole position to finish 4th in the league and qualify for the end of season playoffs.
