A century unbeaten

On a cold spring day at Cantley Park, Buckingham Ladies 2s took on Wokingham 1s. In a very physical match and with many regular 2s players missing, Buckingham attacked from the start. Despite numerous short corners and rolling attacks, Wokingham defended well to hold the score to 0-0 at half-time.

In the second half Buckingham continued attacking with near misses from Katie Mack & Emily Protheroe, until eventually in the 40th minutes Andrea Freshwater scored directly from a short corner. More attacks followed, with many missed opportunities, until in the 65th minute when midfielder Saffi Needham crossed the ball for Charlie Coumbe to slot in on the line.

The final score of 0-2 to Buckingham sees them secure both the Premier League title with 2 matches remaining, as well as their 100th unbeaten game. Buckingham 2s last lost a game in November 2011 to Aylesbury, and have won all but three drawn matches in over a four year period. In fact since their formation in 2008 Buckingham ladies 2s have only lost 6 matches in 7 years. Buckingham will play in Regional South League next season
