Buckingham suceed as Winter arrives

Freezing temperatures and high winds on an exposed pitch greeted Buckingham 2s in their match against bottom of the table Wallingford.

Buckingham showed their strength from the start with Tash James passing the ball through to Andrea Freshwater to open the scoring in the second minute of play. Buckingham then gained a short corner which was duly converted by Georgie Holme.

A loss of concentration at the back allowed Wallingford to score from open play. Buckingham immediately retaliated with a strong attack with many shots delivered & countered in the D, this eventually saw defender Mel Tuckett push the ball into the back of the net, much to her surprise!

Another short corner conversion by Holme took the score to 1-4 at half-time.

With he cold started to take its toll with players finding it difficult to feel their hands or react rapidly, Tash James
drove determinedly beating a number of defenders, her persistence paying off with a goal only 4 minutes after the restart. Five minutes later, player of the match, James doubled her tally with a lovely individual goal.

The goals were completed by Emily Protheroe, leaving the final score 1-7 and taking Buckingham to joint top of the table
