Buckingham 2s faced two matches this weekend and were keen to win their game in hand to consolidate their position at the top of the league
The first opposition of the weekend were Witney 1s and Buckingham scored after only 14 minutes when beautiful flowing hockey produced a through ball from Kirsty Freshwater for Millie Wemyss to convert. Buckingham dominated the first half but Witney held them off. In the second half two goals from Tash James increased their lead, despite Witney getting a goal back. The win was secured in the 55th minute when Andrea Freshwater converted a stunning through ball from James. Final score 3-1
On Sunday Buckingham travelled to Wycombe. Demonstration hockey in the first half, including a number of penetrating runs from Kirsty Freshwater, resulted in two goals from Tash James, and one each from Liz Flack, Georgie Holme, Kirsty Freshwater and Millie Wemyss.
Their dominance continued in the second half and was rewarded by a 37 minute goal from Andrea Freshwater quickly followed by a third from James.
Buckingham wobbled for a few minutes in the middle of the second half and a series of short corners eventually resulted in Wycombe scoring. Buckingham then rallied back to their normal form with two further goals from, Player of the Match, Freshwater (narrowly missing her Mum lying on the floor of the D) and a fourth from James in the 66th minute. Final score 1-10
The leaves Buckingham positioned strongly, seven points clear at the top of South League 3A
