An exceptional display of first half hockey resulted in Buckingham 2's coming away with a 3-2 victory over Chiswick 1st team on Saturday.
The game was very physical and even to start with but it was Buckingham who opened the scoring with a wonderful individual diving goal by Tash James in the 12th minute followed two minutes later by a strong reverse hit goal by Liz Flack who beat the outstretched Chiswick keeper.
Buckingham continued to play great hockey with player of the match Georgie Holme battling tirelessly in Midfield. With a two goal advantage at half time Buckingham knew that Chiswick would come out strong in the second half but it was Buckingham who broke down the right and struck first after good work by James crossed the ball for Andrea Freshwater who's first time shot hit the back of the net.
Chiswick increased the pressure again on the Buckingham defence and got a goal back from a well worked short corner. This again encouraged Chiswick forward and after several very dubious umpiring decisions they scored their second from close range.
A great team performance all round enabled Buckingham the well deserved three points.
They are at home next week to bottom of the league Wallingford where they hope to continue their winning ways.
