Buckingham Champions

Buckingham played their final game of the season at home against Maidenhead 2s.

The start of the match didn't stick to the script with Maidenhead scoring after only 3 minutes, but Buckingham composed themselves and started to build.

After 18 minutes Buckingham were completely in their stride and three goals in 5 minutes, created by in-form Meg Edwards, enabled Andrea Freshwater, Millie Wemyss and Liz Flack to strike

A short corner from Sophie Tuckett converted by Georgie Holme extended the lead and great flowing and linking play across the pitch saw two further goals from Tash James leaving the score 6-1 at half time.

The start of the second half saw Buckingham playing demonstration hockey. Beautiful passing play enabled Buckingham to carve through Maindenhead's defence with captain Andrea Freshwater starting the second half goals. Screen Charlotte Ozwald put a precision ball through to Kirsty Freshwater who drove the ball through for the on-running James to complete her hat trick.

Three further goals in 5 minutes from Wemyss, Flack and Kirsty Freshwater took the final score to 11-1

The result sees Buckingham crowned league champions and secures their eighth promotion in seven years
