Buckingham Ladies 2nd team played host to Spencer Ladies 1st team in Div 2 South League encounter.
Buckingham Ladies opened up well and went ahead after 9 mins, when Emily Protheroe scored from a penalty corner.
The young team gained in confidence as the visitors took sometime to get into gear following their 2 hr journey from
South London.
As the 1st half progressed some good moves from Spencer Ladies led to 4 penalty corners all of which went unconverted
through some good defence and impressive saves by Becks Ball in the Buckingham goal.
Spencer Ladies came out for the 2nd half obviously psyched up following their mundane 1st half performance. Buckingham were guilty of allowing the visitors too much space and time in midfield, which led to 3 more penalty corners, but good defending and good fortune kept Buckingham in the lead. After 19 mins the visitors drew level following s smart move from midfield.
Spencer Ladies launched wave after wave attacks , but a combination of good fortune and resolute defence denied them any further goals, resulting in a 1 -1 draw. Fi Farly was voted most valuable player for her outstanding all-round performance. Well done
to all Buckingham players, as it was our 1st league game of the season, with new players and everyone gave 100% .
