Buckingham v Havant - 05.11.2016

Fielding a blend of youth and experience Buckingham 2nds entertained Havant 1st Xl in this South Div 2
game and chalked up their first win of the season. In a thrilling game which could have resulted in a win for either team, Buckingham hung onto a slender 5 – 4 lead to secure victory.
This was a game of two halves with Buckingham dominating the first half with goals from Fi Farley, Andrea Freshwater Emily Protheroe & Melissa Tuckett to give the home side a well deserved 4 – 1 lead at half time.
After the break Havant came out with all guns blazing & cut the goal deficit by scoring two quick goals. This shocked Buckingham who came under constant pressure until Captain Andrea Freshwater converted a penalty corner with a clean powerful strike. Havant continued to trouble the Buckingham goal and with only 7 minutes to go deservedly notched their 4th goal.
Despite having a player green carded for a technical offence Buckingham held on to secure victory.
Experienced players Fi Farley & Melissa Tuckett had impressive games whilst
Alice Rolfe & Emily Protheroe showed a good turn of speed on the wings.
Although the second half belonged to the visitors Buckingham’s spirit and
determination ensured victory. Millie Holme was voted must valuable player.
