Buckingham 2nd Xl Div 2 against London Wayfarers 1st Xl.
The visitors started well and Buckingham found themselves trailing 1-0 after only 4 minutes. This early setback hurt Buckingham who responded by forcing two short corners the second of which was successfully converted by Andrea Freshwater. From the ensuing passage of play it was obvious that the teams were evenly matched. The deadlock was broken when Wayfarers scored following a melee in the Buckingham dee, but their lead was short lived as Buckingham drew level with a goal from Nikki Greaves.
Two incidents during the second half could have clinched victory for either team. Wayfarers went close to regaining the lead when a good strike from the edge of Buckingham's dee struck the left hand post and was successfully cleared by the home defence. Shortly afterwards Georgie Holme thought she had won the game for Buckingham but unfortunately her goal bound shot was deemed to have hit a defender's foot and was given a short corner from which Buckingham failed to score. Millie Holme was voted Buckingham's most valuable player. The final score of 2 - 2 gave Buckingham a valuable point but they hold the precarious league position of third from the bottom and this week-end have to play high flying Basingstoke for their final league game of the season.
