With 3 players making their 3rd team debut on Saturday, it was a different looking 3's team that took on Gerrards Cross. Different team , same winning result!
The game started with open passing play from Buckingham who put pressure on the oppositions goal. With a tight defence Gerrards Cross managed to foil the first few waves of attack but eventually conceeded a penalty stroke after Lauren Rawling's certain goal was stopped by a defensive foot. Saffi Needham confidently stepped forward and slotted the ball into the goal. Buckingham went 2 - 0 ahead when Saffi dribbled the ball into the circle from the right , beat 2 players and then lifted the ball inside the near post and the goalkeeper. Further presure from Buckingham resulted in goal from Helen Holme and then a real team effort ,with the ball being played out from defensive D and without a single opposing player being allowed to touch the ball Buckingham passed it to Emily Protheroe who placed the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
After the halftime break Buckingham continued to attack and 2 goals by Helen Holme and another by Saffi Needham completed the scoring.
Congratulations to Saff Needham , man of the match , who controlled the midfield as well as scoring the first hattrick of the season.
