Red hot Buckingham melt frosty pitch.

A frost laiden pitch greated Buckingham's arrival at Oxford Hawks on Saturday 6th December. After a 15 minute delay to allow the pitch to defrost the top of the table clash got underway. Buckingham had to defend for the first few minutes of the game as a positive Hawks team looked to get Buckingham onto the back foot. Calm defending by Tommi Joseph , Charlotte Wilson and Laura Cockcroft saw the Hawks attack smothered and Buckingham then set about their own game.
Moving the ball early was one of the focus' of our play today . Positive play brought out a series of excellent saves from the Hawks goalie until the defence finally gave way to a goal line finish from Bella Festa.
Buckingham pushed for further success attacking down the right, with great runs fron Amelia Hollingswoth and Kaite Haigh. This eventually resulted in a second goal scored by Lucia Festa. Buckingham settled into controlling the game with Georgie Chapman and Fliss LInden dominating the midfield. Buckingham passed the ball with control and accuracy to out fox the Hawks defence and the pressure was rewarded with a third goal in the 28th minute by Charlotte Robertson. Hawks however where always a threat , especially on the break, but a couple of great saves by Keeper Mackenzie Sayle and great defending at short corners kept the score at 3.0 at half time.

The second half was more of the same from Buckingham with great linking play from Saff Needham, Georgie Davis and Fliss Lindon. Bella Festa continued to cause the Hawks defence problems and after a fantastic long range pass from Evie Bramah she almost scored but for a fantastioc save from the hawks goalkeeoer.A second goal from Charlotte Robertson took the score to 4, The best goal of the game was left until last, when after another fantastic team attack, Katie Haigh smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
A brilliant 5 0 win over our nearest rivals was thoroughly deserved, every player contributed to the success - Well done girls!
