A Beautiful game to watch. Teenagers really do perform better later in the day!

The 3rd team started their 2016 matches with a late game at league leaders Marlow. A 4.30pm push back in the pouring rain against an unbeaten Marlow was going to be a challenge for this developing team.
It was however Buckingham who began the game with confidence and put the Marlow defence under pressure. Buckingham built each attack by moving the ball at pace to each other ,using both wings to keep the pitch as big as possible.
Marlow as expected did put pressure onto the Buckingham defence but Karen Wildman , Issy Honour and Cat Vince kept them at bay. It was from the breakdown of a Marlow attack that Buckingham broke forward .There was great linking play between Emily Protheroe and Bella Festa , who then fed the ball to Nikki Greaves ,who calmly slotted the ball past the Marlow keeper for a well deserved 1.0 lead.
The game continued to be a competitive affair with both teams creating chances ,Buckingham being thwarted by some excellent saves from the Marlow keeper, It was Marlow who scored just before half time to even up the score.
Half time team talk focused on keeping up the intensity and making the easy early pass..
However an attacki from Marlow early in the second half led to a very well taken goal , with the Marlow centre forward lifting the ball neatly over a diving Daisy Daymond. This setback seemed to drive Buckingham forward and Emily Protheroe scored Buckingham's second goal. after some creative play from Georgie Chapman.
Buckinghams third goal came fas a result of quick reactions from Nikki Geaves who flicked home her second as the ball rebounded off the post after a shot from Emily Fellingham.
The game was still in the balance but every Buckingham player worked hard to keep Marlow away from the Buckingham circle. After another Marlow attack was stopped at the top of the D Millie Holme pounced on a lose ball and drove with speed toward the Marlow goal.
Looking up she saw Jemima Hughes at the far post and neatly passed the ball to allow Jemima to score a decisive fourth goal .
Marlow still pushed forward but the Buckingham team worked together to prevent them having anymore chances.
An excellent win but more importantly an excellent game of hockey, played to a high standard which was at times was just beautiful to watch.
