Despite the lack of a keeper the girls played excellent hockey and gave Hawks a freight

Without a keeper and only 1 sub the girls were always facing an up hill struggle against the home team with 4 subs .

They started well and played end to end hockey never letting Hawks gain momentum. A bad patch in the middle of the first haf allowed 3 rapid goals by Hawks at 17, 19 and 23 minutes. And the score remained 0-3 at half time.

Buckingham restarted agressively and took the game to Hawks scoring their first goal after 5 minutes. Another goal at 9 minutes showed this was no fluke and left the Hawks bench nervous. Buckingham won another PC 2 minutes later and the strike was on target inside the left post but hit a Hawks foot. Unfortunately the subsequent PS shot went wide of the post.

Buckingham continued to pressure Hawks but started to tire and 7 minutes from time Hawks finally gained control of the game with their 4th goal quickly followed by their 5th. While the 5-2 loss was disappointing the effort and flair from the team was a superb example of the Buckingham spirit.
