With only 5 players from last week's winning team and only 1 player who had played senior hockey before this season the squad settled surprisingly quickly and after 5 minutes were on the offensive. With repeated attacks down the wings testing the experienced Slough defence a sudden break by Lauren Rawlings and strike from the right of the D scored the first goal after 10 minutes.
Slough came back to equalize just before half time when they were gifted an own goal by Buckingham player-manager Jenny Vince. At the half time break Buckingham felt in control of the game. Unfortunately Buckingham re-started haphazardly and appeared to lose team cohesion and Slough went 1 up 9 minutes into the half. Minutes later Slough made it 1-3.
Buckingham recovered their shape and again began to have their fair share of the play leading to a shot across the Slough goal by Lauren which was picked up by Olivia Cottrell on the left post and slipped into the net. 5 minutes later Slough went 2 up again but Buckingham remained spirited. 2 minutes from time Clary Davies picked up a loose ball near the penalty spot and netted the ball for a final result of 3-4.
Joint Man of the Match went to Lauren Rawlings and to Jemima Hughes for her excellent work in midfield
