The 4s had a very tough match last Saturday against one of the division leaders, Amersham and Chalfont 4s, a mature and experienced side whose positional play, teamwork and physicality dominated our girls.
The first goal came in the first minute when A&C cut straight through to our goal before we had had time to settle. We dug down deep, and anchored on the centre line of Daisy, Mackenzie, Laura and Evie we gradually managed to find some shape and were relieved to only concede one more goal before half-time. We played with much better teamwork and shape in the 2nd half, but A&C had also decided they hadn't played well enough in the first half and tightened their own play even further. The half was frenetic, with first blood going to Buckingham with a great move finished by Laura for our only goal. But 2 penalty flicks awarded against us pretty much symbolised the rest of the match. Daisy brilliantly saved the first one, but A&C used the experience to ensure that the 2nd went home, and among a dozen other great saves from Daisy a further 2 A&C shots went home for a final 1-5 scoreline.
