In our best performance this season the 4s mastered Bicester 3s and proved what an effective side we can be when on song......

On Saturday the 4s played their first away league match afer 4 away defaults. After last week's first minute lapse we were determined to start strong and focused, and within the first minute a shot across the Bicester goal was only just missed by Tash's stick, and a minute later we had our first short corner. From then on the pressure was predominently against the Bicester goal. Bicester managed a breakaway attack from a lone high player in the 17th minute which Daisy saved with assurance and she also cleared up a quick couple of Bicester short corners 10 minutes later. Finally after half an hour of threatening, Evie smashed in a brilliant goal from the edge of the D to open the scoring for Buckingham.

Bicester started the second half strongly with an immediate short corner and a probing attack a couple of minutes later which Issy stiffled with a great clearance. The 4s counter-attacked with a beautiful sweeping move up the pitch involving the whole team, with lots of early easy passes, finished off by a lovely chip from Issy for our 2nd goal. A minute later Evie converted a Buckingham short corner with a strike from the top of the D to bring the score to 3-0. The next 10 minutes were really exciting with Tash's chip off a Marion cross just wide of the post, and three Buckingham short corners incuding an Evie strike rebounding off the post. The Buckingham defense of Charlotte W, Mackenzie and Sarah proved realy secure, allowing Holly and Liv in screen time to work as the engine for the midfield of Issy, Evie, Missy, Romy and Jess, with Tash and Marion up front able to stay high to keep Bicester stretched thin.

A rare Bicest attack in the 51st minute ended in a fluffed long corner, before Buckingham took control again. Our 4th goal came from another short corner with Evie nipping the ball into the goal through the Bicester goalie's legs, and our final goal came from a great Romy strike at a narrow angle from the edge of the D which Marion followed into the goal. In the last 5 minutes Buckingham relaxed a little, and a Bicester breakaway ended with a one-on-one with Daisy and a rebounded save tucked into the goal for Bicester's only goal.

This was a complete team effort, with everyone focused, aware of one another and putting in 100% energy. It was an absolute pleasure to watch, and a very enjoyable experience with both teams positive and cheerful. We will do very well indeed to beat this as a match of the season. Evie was a very popular choice as Player of the Match for her mastery in the centre and the assurance of all three of her goals, with Issy, Liv, Holly and Charlotte also outstanding. But as Daisy said, the whole team was really Man of the Match.
