On Sunday the Buckingham Boys U12 Pirates travelled to Slough to play in their second ever block of fixtures.
Once again it was a hugely positive and enjoyable outing, as the side remained unbeaten for the second week in succession. All the boys worked really hard and played well. They have made some big improvements as they gradually come to terms with playing the 7 a-side version of the game. Once again Charlie Tuthill proved to be the stand-out player, scoring 3 out of the sides 4 goals. In their first match, the Pirates took on a strong Rickmansworth side and despite taking the lead, they were pegged back late on to draw 1-1. Next, they took on a very strong Slough outfit but the boys were outstanding throughout. With Tommy Knowles, Christian Giles and Freddie Tuthill tireless in midfield, Jim Phillips and Alfie Corthine solid at the back and Charlie Tuthill and Trystan Jones always a threat up front, the game proved to be a very entertaining, end-to-end encounter. Buckingham took lead but despite creating a number of other good openings, they could not extend it further and ultimately, could not prevent the hosts scoring late on to make it 1-1. In their final match, with legs tiring, the Pirates took on St Alban’s and won 2-0. Their first goal was a fantastic team goal, neatly finished off by Jim Phillips with Charlie Tuthill adding a second to make it 2-0.
