Buccaneers Remain Unbeaten

The Buccaneers started life in division 3 unbeaten in the Chiltern Leagues. The boys travelled to Southgate with a squad of just 7 but proved that they deserved their promotion by recording draws against the four opposing teams. The day finished with a tight and well-fought 3-3 draw with Amersham & Chalfont, Joe Burgess & Charlie Baker providing the goals. William Round was also in exceptional form and Luke Mayo was equally threatening when going forwards. Some solid defensive work from Thomas Emerson & Thomas Roberts as well as several last ditch jabs from Edward Venn kept the opposition scoring opportunities to a minimum. Overall the boys are sitting 3rd out of 5 in the league and with some more training could find themselves really pushing towards back to back promotions.

Having been recently promoted, the Pirates started life in Division1 with a fine 6-0 win over St Alban’s B. Trystan Jones opened the scoring with Rufus Barnes and Harrison Cairns scoring two apiece and Zeb Hodgson scoring the final goal. In their second fixture the boys earned a hard fought 3-1 victory over Amersham & Chalfont with goals from Frank Bursell, Zeb Hodgson and George Emerson. Their final match was a fantastic game against St Alban’s A. In the first half, under a lot of pressure, they were indebted to Layth Elmbrati in goal for keeping them in it. They found themselves 1-0 down early in the 2nd half but then dominated, Hodgson scoring a fine individual goal to bring the scores level and he thought he had won it late on, only for the goal to be ruled out. However, it was a good start to life in Division 1 and the boys are looking forward to improving in over the next couple of weeks ready for the next round on December 1st.
