Having been promoted to the premier division, perhaps understandably, started a little nervously and in a tight game were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to a strong Amersham and Chalfont side. Next they took on a powerful Southgate outfit, but having taken some confidence from their first outing, ran out 3-0 winners in an entertaining end-to-end contest. The Pirates defended well with Layth Elmrabti outstanding in goal whilst at the other end the boys were clinical when their opportunities came. Rufus Barnes made it 1-0 after a fine passing move, before Trystan Jones neatly rounded the goalkeeper to double their lead before half time and Zeb Hodgson sealed the 3-0 victory with his goal midway through the second half. Having taken all the positives from that win, the boys produced a fantastic final performance against the hosts Thame to run out 2-0 winners, with two second half goals courtesy of Trystan Jones and Zeb Hodgson, meaning that the Pirates sit top of the table after the first round of matches. Well done to all the boys for their excellent teamwork, great hockey and winning attitudes.
