In their first match against Aylesbury, the Buccaneers enjoyed lots of possession and territory. Joe Burgess scoring a goal in each half to seal a 2-0 win.
Their second match against Southgate was a tough, end to end affair. Felix Rapp on debut in goal, made some crucial saves to keep the Buccaneers in the match and some strong defensive work by Thomas Emerson, Bertie Rapp and Jesse McCallum prevented Southgate from scoring and Burgess scored once again to earn a hard fought 1-0 win.
The third match against Hemel and Berkhampstead proved to be the toughest of the day and having come under considerable early pressure we were under early pressure the boys found themselves 1-0 down at half time. The Buccaneers came out fighting in the second half and got a well deserved equaliser and with the game in the balance it was that man Burgess again who scored the winner with less than a minute to play.
Taking on Milton Keynes in their final match of the day, against the run-of-play the Buccaneers conceded an early goal. However, they showed real determination and produced their best half of play in the second half. Felix Rapp in goal making more fine saves at one end whilst elder brother Bertie netted his first ever hattrick at the other end. Thomas Emerson added a fabulous goal and Burgess completed the scoring, with his fifth goal of the day to run out 5-1 winners.
The boys never gave up and showed fantastic spirit in twice coming from behind to win all their games on the day and earn a hard earned but well deserved promotion into Division 2.
