The culmination of the U12 Girls season saw the selected squad head to Surbiton HC on Sunday 28th April to pit their skills against the rest of the best from the South region at the In2 Hockey U12 finals. An early meet didn't dampen the spirits of the girls who all performed throughout the competition with a smile, regularly playing some exceptional hockey and missing out by fine margins.

Placed in a group with Alton, Richmond and regular National finalists Surbiton, the girls recorded a 0-0 draw to start with vs Alton - neither team managing to get a foothold in the game. Next up was the home favourites Surbiton, who showed why they're regularly competing for National titles with a composed 3-0 win; some exceptional defending by Arabella Corner & Captain Gwen Grovit kept Buckingham in the game throughout. Our final pool match saw us record another draw with Richmond equalising on the last play of the game; the Buckingham goal coming once more from Captain Grovit who slammed it home from the top of the D.

Finishing 3rd on goal difference in our pool, Buckingham found themselves into the plate competition and facing an unknown entity in Brighton & Hove. Sasha Wakeford found the back of the net and Buckingham defended exceptionally well, reverting to a back 3 to nullify any Brighton attacks. This win saw the girls progress to the plate semi-finals and a match vs. Trojans.

Taking a lead through a Wakeford penalty corner, Buckingham went into their shells and were unfortunate to concede 2 goals to an enthusiastic and determined Trojan's team - the result finished 2-1 to Trojans.

Despite walking away with no medals to show, the girls were an absolute delight to work with for the day. Many thanks must go to all the girls who have represented Buckingham this season, Lorraine (and manager Oli) who've led the team so exceptionally well, Dominic who supported in a coaching capacity at the finals and to all the parent's who've transported their daughters across the Country this season - without you all this couldn't of happened.
