Buckingham 2's travelled away to Southgate 2's with a bare eleven players, expecting a tough challenge against the third placed team in the league. Both sides had periods of pressure during the first half but both defences stood firm and the score was 0-0 at half time.
The second half started in a similar vein until Buckingham made the breakthrough, with the joint players of the match Cas Jorritsma and Jess Adams both involved. Jorritsma’s cross following a strong run down the right found Adams well positioned on the back post and she calmly slotted into the open goal. Buckingham then settled in to manage the game, as with no subs and tiring legs Southgate continued to threaten winning numerous penalty corners. Unfortunately with just a few minutes remaining the opposition passed the ball into the D to their influential centre mid who rolled off her defender and slotted into the goal to even the scores.
