U16s go down vs. slick Khalsa Leamington side

After a previously narrow loss in the U16 competition the U16s arrived at King's Hill School with a young but strong side. The match started quickly and with Buckingham still a bit asleep Khalsa Leamington quickly took advantage. After absorbing the next bout of pressure from the opposition Buckingham built and played their way into the match with the middle section of the match going towards Buckingham's advantage, with a few key opportunities just going amiss. Khalsa Leamington then managed to break away from the continued pressure of Buckingham to score another goal just before half time.

With a quick refreshing of a few key tactical points Buckingham were ready to go into the second half and started strongly, with renewed confidence they could get something from the game and the match continued strongly for Buckingham but a few good chances just wouldn't go into the goal for Buckingham. Unfortunately for a few key minutes the team's heads went down and in a five minute period Khalsa Leamington scored three neat goals. However, the Buckingham side continued to go forward with great link up and purposeful play, almost scoring on numerous occasions and getting many short corners.

The match finished 5-0 but this was in no way a fair reflection of how the match had been, just a few key minutes when Buckingham had switched off after not quite converting.

The player of the match was awarded to Annabel Topley for excellent midfield battling, skill and link up play. A massive thank you to all parents/guardians who made the journey and brought along such a strong team, whom were all so supportive and understood the place that this match will take in the team's learning curve.
