Just 11 Buckingham players stepped out to face Amersham and Chalfont today.
Amersham scored twice from short corners within 5 and 6 minutes of the start of the game catching Buckingham out. The girls then regrouped and started to establish a better team formation with the defenders, Tilly Flynn, Karen Wildman, Emily England and Rotimi Joseph holding off any further goals in the first half. The forwards generated several opportunities that unfortunately they were unable to convert to goals in this first half.
They started the second half heads high and knowing they were equally as good as the opposition, as game play had been pretty equal.
Our first goal came from Nikki Greaves in open play at 52 mins.
Our equalizer at 68 minutes was from a beautiful cross from Nikki to Lauren Rawlings who powerfully connected with the cross.
During the game there was some amazing quick 1-2 passing up the left between Izzy Clamp and Jemima Hughes and several outstanding runs from mid field into the D from Alice Rolfe.
Daisy was her usual dependable self clearing several potential shots on goal in both halves.
This was a true TEAM game with EVERY player finding something special to add to their game and spirit today.
Players man of the match was Lauren Rawlings and coaches player was Antoinette Marchant for her outstanding commitment to winning her tackles every time.
Very well done to all.
