Buckingham got off to the perfect start when, despite continuous rain, Rotimi Joseph crossed from the right of the Oxford D and found Francesca Musson's stick and Musson made no mistake in netting the ball. A second goal by Musson 10 minutes later left Buckingham feeling comfortable as Oxford started to settle into the match. The game became more balanced but Buckingham kept the 2-0 lead at half time.
Oxford dominated the start of the second half and good pressure led to 2 quick goals for Oxford. Buckingham continued to struggle and had to defend a succession of penalty corners. The Oxford pressure was lifted by a goal from Joseph during a breakout from the Buckingham half of the pitch. A second goal from Joseph put Buckingham back in full control and settled the team down to more constructive play. Despite the bad patch at the start of the second half the 4-2 result is a fair reflection of the team's performance.
