The 4s returned to winning ways with a 6-0 win against Aylesbury 4s last Saturday. We were compensated for the very wet weather by a cheerful, friendly match full of fluent hockey. Aylesbury were no push-over and the play moved from end to end of the pitch, but our defence held completely secure, bolstered by Rotimi and Charley W returning from the 3s. Our very strong midfield, anchored by Charlotte Y and Jemima kept the ball moving forwards, and the goal spree started after just 5 minutes with a goal from Lauren. Delight of the Day was the second foray for Marion whose commitment and repeated surges towards the left post were rewarded by a beautifully struck long pass from daughter Charlotte converted by a sweet chip-in for her debut goal, and the team's votes as Player of the Match.
After 18 minutes Jemima carried the ball from mid-field into the D and stayed in position for another great chip-in, starting off her hat trick which was completed by two second half goals in similar style. Lauren also scored a second goal at the end of the first half to give us a final tally of 6 goals, only restricted from a much larger score by the gutsy performance of Aylesbury's rookie goalie.
