Buckingham travelled to Thame keen to pick up their first win of the season. Bucks started well and inside 2 minutes Trystan Jones started his audition for Strictly and danced his way through the Thame defense and finished with a sublime reverse flickover the keeper. This seemed to ignite Thame and Harding in the buckingham goal was called upon a number of times. Thame grabbed an equaliser with an improvised PC routine and then took the lead with a scrappy close range finish. Harding kept the score down saving a penalty stroke to keep Buckingham in range going into the second half. Buckingham dominated the play but Thame always looked dangerous on the counter. With Skipper Mikey taking an enforced rest and Coach Jones watching on from the naughty corner Buckingham searched for the equaliser but to no avail. Thame grabbed a third when a ball across the D caught the stick of Josh H who deflected the ball into his own net. Bucks continued to dominate and grabbed a goal back with an improvised PC routine, Alex TS deflecting a strike from Jonny past the keeper. Bucks searched for the equaliser but despite the pressure Thame added a fourth with a quick counter and strike into the top corner. Bucks battled on and an over-exuberant tackle from Freddie W saw him have a sit on the naughty step, this confused the bench as they clearly hadn't been watching and wondered why he had walked off the pitch. The pressure started to mount and a string of penalty corners finally saw Trumper fire home. Despite a late rally Bucks just couldn't quite find the equaliser. Special mentions to Josh H and Jonny who decided to introduce themselves at teas, certainly explains why they didn't pass to each other. MOTM went to Harding for a good performance and a couple of pretty good saves if I do say so myself. DOTD went to Alex B who despite a strong performance managed to swing, miss the ball completely and land a perfect 360 pirouette before face planting the turf. Hopefully the opposition caught it on camera and it will make the end of season highlight reel. Next week the 1s travel to Eastcote eager to build on strong performances and return with 3 points.
