Buckingham hosted Leighton Buzzard in what was the battle of the only two 1st XI's in the MBBO Division 3 and Leighton Buzzard occupied top spot in the league. The away team started brightly and Buckingham had to defend well in order to keep them at bay. Debutant Ed Mercer made two fantastic saves in the first 10 minutes to keep the scores level until Buckingham broke the deadlock a few minutes later. Ned Ellison made a good break through the centre of the field before Sam Riley's crash ball from the right found Keegan Gregory who scored his third goal of the season from close range. Leighton Buzzard equalised early on in the second half after a period of sustained pressure only for Buckingham to retake the lead minutes later. Jones fed James Trumper on the left and his flick past the opposition goalkeeper was helped in by captain Ash Sherwood.
The visitors pressed again and another good save from Mercer kept the away team out before they finally found the net again. A penalty corner was defended in the first instance but after a goalmouth scramble, Leighton Buzzard were awarded a penalty stroke which they converted well.
The away team edged possession and territory but Buckingham always looked a threat on the counter and it was through another swift break that the home side took the lead for the third time. Jack Foreman and Phil Arnold linked up well on the right and after an initial shot was saved. the ball fell to Harry Gaunt and who finished well on his reverse stick.
