The late pushback didn't deter the 2s in the opening league fixture. With new skipper Jones between the sticks, Bucks stuck with the winning formula that saw them finish last season so strongly. Bucks started well, moving the ball at pace and constantly threatened the Oxford goal. Buckingham broke the deadlock with a fine back foot shot from Harding into the corner the likes of which never to be seen again. Spurred on by this a swift counter attack saw 4 buckingham players descend on the poor Oxford keeper who stood no chance as Beesley Snr tapped home. MOTM Emerson got his first minutes later with a fierce shot from close range. Beesley grabbed his second with a slick PC routine to make it 4-0 at half time. Oxford came out strong and pressed high up the pitch, a rare loose pass from Hodgson gifted the oxford centre forward who slotted home past Jones. Bucks struck back almost immediately with another PC routine fired in by Beesley for his hatrick. Emerson grabbed his second after a fine piece of skill then slotted the ball past the keeper. Oxford grabbed a second goal midway through the second half. Bucks finished strongly with Smith grabbing his first of the season with another fine PC routine. A strong perfomance from the 2s as they push to go one better this season and aim for promotion.
